The Spanish Footballers’ Association and Barcelona player Sergio Busquets have announced that players have gone against the decision to play a game in the United States .
The terms of the deal were said to be agreed upon by Relevant, the company that runs the International Champions Cup, and the participating teams.
On a video posted on Association’s social media page, Busquets announced to the media:
“We met at AFE with all the colleagues that represent all the clubs. We are all united. Unity gives strength and, as our president said, we are all rowing in the same direction, on the path we all want and that I believe corresponds with us and is best for football.”
Spain sports minister Jose Guirao commented saying that both sides should reach a solution.
“They have go speak amongst themselves and reach an agreement, ” Jose Guirao told a Spanish radio station.
The teams that were expected to be involved are Barcelona or Real Madrid, with the game being played in Miami.
