Kaizer Chiefs’ MTN8 Dreams Shattered

Johannesburg based side Kaizer Chiefs said goodbye to their title dreams today after suffering a 1-0 defeat against Supersport United today at FNB Stadium.

The teams had met in the first-leg with a game that ended on a 2-2 aggregate. Supersport won on a 2-3 aggregate after Bradley Grobler found the breakthrough at the 58′ minute for Matsatsantsa, getting past Teenage Hadebe inside the box to power a low drive to the bottom corner of the net.

This was Kaizer Chiefs‘ first trophy on offer and they have been kicked out at the semi-final stages.

Supersport United will face Mamelodi Sundowns or Cape Town City in the final. Cape Town City have a 0-1 advantage on the second-leg of the MTN8 Semi-final against Mamelodi Sundowns.

The game will take place tomorrow at 15:00 at Lucas Moripe Stadium.
