It’s been a long road to the Carter V, not only for the fans, but for Weezy too.
Carter V is undoubtedly the most anticipated album in hip hop right now. With so much speculation lingering back from 2014, much of the information about the Carter V was either inaccurate or not confirmed.
But on 25 September, Lil Wayne finally let out a video where he confirmed the release of Carter V.
“On my birthday, I have something special, I will be releasing the Carter V on my birthday” Weezy confirmed in the video.
The release of Wayne’s Carter V was delayed and suffered setbacks due to a legal battle that occurred between Lil Wayne and former mentor, Birdman. The legal battle which eventually led to campaigns such as #FreeWeezy. But last month, Wayne finally become the sole owner of Cash Money, providing him with the vacuum to finally drop that C5 project.
The Carter V is a follow up to Weezy’s Dedication 6: Reloaded, which dropped last year. The project consists of 23 tracks with features coming from Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, XXXTencation, Mannie Fresh and Wayne’s daughter, Regina Carter amongst others, while production was handled by Boi1Da, Vinylz and Manne Fresh and more.
