Thierry Henry has just joined Monaco, the club which he began his career, for his first head coach position.
“In the first place, I thank AS Monaco for giving me the opportunity to coach the team of this club which is so special to me” said Henry.
“I am very happy to come back to AS Monaco and extremely determined to meet the challenges ahead. I can not wait to meet the players to start working together.”
After his retirement from football, Thierry Henry joined the Belgium coaching staff in 2014 where he worked with striker Romelu Lukaku.
“Thierry for me is the best, I sometimes ask him questions for two hours.” said Romelu
Thierry Henry will take over after Leonardo Jardim who had a poor start to the season, collecting only 6 points from 9 league matches and facing defeat in the Champions League to Atlentico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, leaving Monaco at the bottom of group A.
Monaco’s vice president has also paid tribute to the departing of Leonardo Jardim.
“I want to thank with deepest respect Leonardo for all the work done,” he said
“Leonardo has established himself on the bench of AS Monaco as a reference in Europe and leaves behind a very positive balance sheet. His tenure will remain as one of the most beautiful pages in the history of the club. Leonardo will still be part of the AS Monaco family.”
